This allows cool outside air to the air filter. Each hood opening has an area of about 10 square inches. It enters a plenum under the hood formed by adding sheet aluminum screwed to the hood supports. The plenum is sealed to a modified air cleaner base by Moroso fire retardant foam.

To prevent the engine torque from tearing apart the rubber sandwich type mount, a torque strap was made using chain. On the driver's side engine mount, it runs from the upper engine mount bolt to an existing hole in the frame. A piece of flat steel 3/4" x 1/8" thick attaches to the engine using the existing bolt for the motor mount at the block. A grade 8 bolt and a beveled washer connect the chain to the frame, while the flat stock is attached to the chain using a lifting chain shackle with a screw in pin.
