Looking backward...

History of My Hobby

I bought my first car in 1978 at age 17. It was a 1970 Plymouth Duster with a 225 CID, slant 6 engine and a 3-speed manual transmission with a factory floor shifter and bench seat.

I bought my first high performance Mopar in 1980. It was a 1969 Plymouth Barracuda with a 340 CID engine, 4-speed manual transmission and 4.30 gears in the 8-3/4 suregrip rear.

In February 2000, I bought the current Barracuda without an engine. It had a 727 big block transmission, slap stick shifter, and a 2.76 ratio open pumpkin in the 8-3/4 rear. One previous owner had been running a 440, but pulled the engine before selling the car. This car had the interior redone by a guy who never put an engine in, and it was sitting for about 5-6 years before I bought it.
